Lacrosse Gear Information

Attention all lacrosse players! As we prepare for the upcoming season, we want to remind you to come to your first practice with all the necessary equipment.

Please note that the club will provide a game uniform/practice jersey for all players, as well as specialty gear for goalies. However, all other gear is the responsibility of the player.
  • *NOTE:  If you have questions/concerns about equipment/gear then please feel free to contact us. We may at times have equipment available for loan.

For players in K-2, 3/4, 5/6, 7/8, and high school, here is a list of gear you will need (Reference - USA Lacrosse Equipment):

  • Lacrosse Helmet   [REF:  For K-8, the helmet just needs to be a Lacrosse Helmet (NOCSAE / SEI marking), in either Black (Inglemoor team color), or otherwise neautral White or Gray.  For HS, follow chart below unless otherwise agreed with Coach.]
  • Mouth guard (with strap for attaching to helmet)
  • Lacrosse stick ("crosse")   [REF: Most players use a regular "short" stick (about 40-42") (avoid "fiddle-sticks", which are plastic toy sticks). For 5th+, Defenders may use a "Long" stick (up to 72") but should have first become proficient with a regular stick, if unsure first discuss with Coach. ]
  • Lacrosse gloves   [REF: HS may have a required color, verify with Coach.]
  • Chest/Shoulder pads
  • Elbow pads
  • Rib pads (optional)
  • Athletic supporter / protective cup
  • Cleats (football or soccer style)
  • Water bottle (recommend one with a straw)
  • Goalie Gear - Goalie is a specialty position with specialty equipement. Goalie gear is typically made available by the club/team.

General gear recommendations:

There is a wide range in quality and price for gear. We recommend that you don’t spend a lot for your introductory equipment. A starter set with a good helmet and basic set of pads will serve you well. Ask for a “lacrosse starter set” in local stores and online.  A few of the local stores are Dicks Sporting Goods, and Play it Again Sports. [REF: If buying used gear, ensure you are comfortable assessing the quality/safety. For renting, typically Play-It-Again Sports in Lynnwood has Lacrosse gear rental starting for around $100.] If you have questions/issues, reach out to your club, they may know of opportunities like gear swaps/etc, but otherwise clubs are happy to hear from new and returning players and to give what information they can.

Print the gear checklist for your child to use when getting ready for each practice/game. If your child shows up to a practice or a game without the required equipment, they may need to sit out. Please have your player arrive at the field with sufficient time to get fully dressed and ready to go when practice starts.

As with all boys starter sticks, the mesh will need to be broken in. Most starter sticks come with mesh that stretches when wet. This has a tendency to change the way that the stick throws. Simply changing to a coated mesh helps with pocket consistency in wet weather, providing more reliable ball handling and passing. Coaches can help parents select restringing options for the wet weather play we have in the northwest.
